Behind the lens

My name is Sarah and I’m the photographer behind StandbildCA (German: still photo), based in British Columbia, Canada.

I received my first camera when I was seven years old some time in the mid-90s. My first photography lesson as a kid was to not open the camera before the film had been developed after exposing at least one or two film rolls to the light. Waiting a week or two to see the results of my work at the photo lab was all the excitement.

With a love for the old-fashioned, I rejected the digital revolution in photography for as long as I could until I eventually signed up to study Digital Film Making at a German film school. As digital cameras quickly made a lot of progress, I fell in love with their benefits, as well.

After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree, I moved from Germany to Canada to pursue a career in the North American film industry. Today, I am a filmmaker and an actress (IMDb) by trade and my jobs often take me to exciting places all over the world. On my days off, I like strapping on my camera and indulging in travel, landscape, and wildlife photography and videography.
